About Me
Hello — I’m Thomas (“Tom”) Hollingshead. I’m an engineer with a background in aerospace testing and quality who has transitioned into data engineering and analytics, with a focus on building reliable, well-structured data workflows and presenting results clearly through software.
My early career was shaped by high-stakes environments where repeatability, documentation, and quality control are essential. In aerospace test and QA settings, I developed a disciplined approach to troubleshooting, defect isolation, and process validation. That foundation carries directly into the way I approach data work today: validate inputs, reduce ambiguity, and build pipelines that remain consistent as they scale.
As part of the quality assurance and systems development I performed for space applications, I built small automation tools in Python to streamline parts of the test scripting workflow. The goal was straightforward: reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and support faster execution without sacrificing reliability.
Through CodexPrime (my full-stack Django portfolio), I develop and publish data projects that reflect my current focus: SQL analysis and drilldowns using joins, aggregations, and query structures designed to answer practical questions; Python workflows that emphasize reproducibility, evaluation, and clear interpretation; machine learning foundations including regression/prediction, clustering/segmentation, and decision tree modeling with performance metrics; and R-based exploration and visualization to support profiling, analysis, and communication.
CodexPrime also reflects my full-stack capabilities: I build the projects and present them through a structured web application so the work is accessible, navigable, and easy to review.
I earned a BS in Data Analytics and I’m currently completing an MS in Information Technology Management, strengthening my ability to deliver technical work end-to-end—from implementation and validation to communication and execution. I also completed a Coding Dojo bootcamp, which reinforced my software development foundation and full-stack fluency.
I am targeting Data Engineer roles, with a longer-term trajectory toward technical leadership. I’m particularly interested in teams that value strong fundamentals: clear data modeling, reproducible workflows, and systems that are reliable in production.
